We have had a wonderfully busy time here at Mountain View Baptist Church. Since our last note, we have completed a “Phone’s For You” program. The tally after calling ceased on 10/9/08 was about 3,790 homes reached, 150 respondents were mailed information. We were blessed to have three other churches participate in our effort. Church Planter & Arch Ministries out of Mentor, OH was able to reach 720 homes. Hampton Park Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, reached about 1500 homes. Silver Valley Baptist Church in Yermo, CA also helped and then the church family themselves called many. In the last month of the effort, we reached out again to the 150 respondents by both phone and through mailings. At the culminating event, we were blessed with 86 people attending. The MacGills cooked a wonderful chuck wagon meal and the Loftuses and Yorks from Red Cliff Bible Camp provided a series of special music numbers.
God has been blessing and we are rejoicing in His wondrous love. We operate an after school program on Tuesdays known as “Kings Kids”. Many ladies from the church actually pick up children from the local elementary school and bring them to the church. We have a snack, a game time, songs and pledge time, then a lesson. We have been blessed to have as many as 16 in our group.
I have made contact with the local Fire and police departments concerning chaplain services. Only the City Police and Fire Departments have responded thus far. However, my oldest son and a friend of his, who both recently moved here from Pennsylvania, were accepted into the Sheriff’s Department and are now working there. I plan to continue offering chaplain services to these organizations.
We are in the process of establishing our own domain name for this web site. When this is changed, domain mapping will automatically route folks to the new URL.
